Vaccination Policy
To verify that everything is up to date, records are required before your check-in date or daycare stay.
- Distemper/Parvo (DAPP): Required for all visitors.
- Bordetella: Recommended for seniors, puppies, and compromised systems.
Facts about Bordetella
Also known as Kennel Cough, this is an airborne upper respiratory infection similar to the common cold in humans.
- It is highly airborne and has numerous strains.
- No vaccine protects 100% against all strains.
- Bordetella vaccination is currently optional at our facility.
Understanding CIRDC
Canine Infectious Respiratory Disease Complex
CIRDC is like the common cold and flu in humans—a common issue for social dogs that is usually mild and manageable. While we require vaccinations, no vaccine completely prevents exposure to potential germs.
Like the human flu vaccine, these vaccinations help reduce the severity of signs should exposure occur. While occasional exposure is a natural risk in social environments, being informed ensures the well-being of all pets.
Staying Home
To keep our community safe, dogs showing signs of illness—such as coughing, sneezing, or a runny nose—must stay home until they’ve fully recovered.
Penticton Community Watch
If Bordetella or other seasonal illnesses are high in the Penticton area (like "cold season"), we will post notices in-store and online so you can decide what's best for your dog.
